Today, Chiaroscuro, the sophomore EP from emerging Chicago-based singer-songwriter Delaney Bailey, is available worldwide, alongside a limited cassette run.
Chiaroscuro was produced by Gabe Simon (Noah Kahan, Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa) Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan), Carrie K (Sasha Sloan, Jessie Murph) and Hazey Eyes (Jeremy Zucker, Quinn XCII, and Chelsea Cutler). Of the new music, Delaney explains, “The common theme of this EP is the way grief affects your relationships with others, life itself, and yourself. It’s about finding the light and dark parts of life when someone you love has left.”
The new EP follows Delaney’s 2023 EP what we leave behind which was praised by Ones to Watch who said, “Bailey bravely sticks by her craft, goes forth, and doesn’t hide, wearing her heart on her sleeve and allowing her lyrics to breathe using subdued instrumentals to accent but not overwhelm her storytelling,” and her 2022 EP (i would have followed you) featuring breakout single “j’s lullaby (darlin’ i’d wait for you),” which was featured in The New York Times’ “Best Songs of 2022.”
22 year-old Delaney Bailey was born and bred in Indiana. She began her music career while in college in Bloomington, releasing her first album during her junior year. She released what we leave behind in 2023 after relocating to Chicago. Since then, she’s garnered over 275M career streams, and a social footprint of over 785K followers.
