After a surprise 2025 duet, Stevie Wonder finds his way back to Lutefish,
proving lightning strikes twice on the NAMM show floor.

What began as a surprise moment on the NAMM show floor in 2025 became an unforgettable reunion on Day 1 of NAMM 2026. Music icon Stevie Wonder made his way back to the Lutefish booth to reconnect with artist Devyn Rush and her remote band members, highlighting how music can bring people back together.

Last year, Wonder encountered Rush performing live on the Lutefish stage, debuting the Lutefish Stream (technology built to jam online in real time) before joining in to create a spontaneous duet that captivated onlookers
and social media alike. Rush, reflecting on that moment, said, “I didn’t think anything could top last year’s duet, but having Stevie come back to me — pun intended — this year was even more beyond my wildest dreams.”

Rush’s song selections played an unexpected role in the reunion. In 2025, she captured Wonder’s ear with “Until You Come Back to Me.” This year, Rush and her remote band opened with Wonder’s own “So What the Fuss” — a funk-driven call-to-action against global apathy and conflict. Wonder once again paused mid-walk as Rush sang, noticing her not once, but for the second year in a row.

This year’s reunion unfolded just as organically. While Rush sang into the mic, she couldn’t resist the callback: “Hey Stevie, will you come back to me? ’Cause until you come back to me, I’m gonna keep singing this song…”

Moments later, Wonder did exactly that.

After returning to the front of the Lutefish stage with Rush, Wonder joined remote musician Chris Gale and members of the Lutefish team inside the Wenger Sound Isolation Room, where the conversation shifted naturally to music, technology, and the ways both bring people together.

Rush summed up the encounter publicly, noting, “There is no doubt that Stevie Wonder is a special person and a true gift to this world, but like I told him on the mic… his music isn’t about what he does, it’s about who he is.”

Wonder also shared stories and talked about his love of music, technology, and reuniting the world.

“We created Lutefish and the online platform for people to make more music,” stated Whitney Winkels, Sr. Marketing Manager at Lutefish. “We are musicians ourselves, and to enable others to make more music, connect, and utilize music as a universal language, well, that is truly something special.”

As a brand of Wenger Corporation, Lutefish returned to NAMM in 2026 with new features including livestream functionality and stem recording, expanding how musicians collaborate in real time and across distance.

For the second year in a row, the Lutefish booth reminded attendees that music isn’t just notes or gear — it’s the connections between people. Lutefish exists to make those connections easier, faster, and more meaningful by turning once-in-a-lifetime musical moments into forever.

And for the second year in a row, Stevie Wonder found his way back to the Lutefish booth, a reminder that music has a way of bringing people together.
