These are the five main concepts of Rich Redmond’s CRASH Course for Success.

Having now hosted Rich for three CRASH events, there is no question about how Rich’s concepts have helped him cultivate a successful career in the music business. His delivery of those concepts once again not only inspired me, but inspired a room full of hungry musicians who attended Rich’s CRASH Course Masterclass in Redwood City, California on Saturday, September 27th.
While in town for a sold out show at the Shoreline Amphitheater, instead of trying to take a few brief moments for himself, during what is a grueling tour schedule, Rich chose to share his relentless passion with a room full of eager attendees. He treated them to 90+ minutes of impressive skills on the drum kit and a wealth of priceless, yet practical knowledge, that had each and every one of them leaving as better drummers/musicians.
After an early morning set up it was off to the Shoreline Amphitheater to pick up Rich who arrived from Irvine, on the tour bus, at around 8:00am that morning. We stopped for a quick bite, arrived at the event site and after sharing some stories from the road and a quick sound check, I was treated to the thrill of a lifetime when Rich granted me the opportunity to play one of my favorite songs side by side with my mentor. To say I was nervous would be putting it mildly.
The room quickly filled and in addition to the class attendees, Rich’s friend and long-time drummer and founding member of the rock band Tesla, Troy Luccketta, arrived as Rich’s personal guest. As always, Rich delivered his CRASH message with a mixture of valuable knowledge, great stories and passionate performances of numerous tracks. He showed us the “Money Beats”, how to create around those beats and adapt them to various styles. He demonstrated dynamics and talked about the relationship of the drummer within the band. He provided tools that any one, in any walk of life, can apply for success in what they do.
And as if all of that wasn’t enough, Rich called his good friend Troy Luccketta up on stage and he and Rich proceeded to treat everyone to a 10+ minute, impromptu 2 drum set jam session that was truly one of a kind. Feeding off of each other they traded fills and grooves….challenging each other as they went on. One would take the groove one direction and the other would follow. It was a magical moment for everyone.
